Any file
a) UTF-8 file names can be up to 63 bytes in length.
(Depending on the character type, file names
(including extension) may be limited to 21
characters.)
b) Only when the Write Inhibit tab on the disc is set to
enable recording.
The following directory operations are possible in the
General directory.
• Directory creation (up to 64 levels, including the
General directory)
• Deletion and renaming of directories
Notes
• The maximum number of files that can be created on
one disc, including directories, is 5000 for a single-
layer disc and 6000 for a dual-layer disc.
• File names and directory names can use letters,
numbers, and symbols from the Unicode 2.0 (UTF-8)

character set.
However, the following control characters and
symbols cannot be used.
- Control characters: U+0000 to U+001F, U+007F
- Symbols: ", *, /, :, <, >, ', ?, \, |
• To create a new directory in the General directory, first
create a directory on the desktop and rename it using
only characters that can be used on this unit. Then drag
it from the desktop and drop it in the General directory.
1) The following character codes cannot be used by FAM
connections.

U+050000, U+060000, U+070000, U+080000,
U+090000, U+0A0000, U+0B0000, U+0C0000,
