Turning on the power and setting hardware
Normally, hardware settings are not required to be changed from the default.
However, in the following cases, start each utility and check/change hardware settings.
Write down the hardware configuration and BIOS Setup Utility's setting values in the "Configuration Sheets" in the Docu-
ment & Tool CD. For details about how to set hardware, refer to the followings:
"Chapter 8 Configuring Hardware and Utilities"
l BIOS Setup Utility
When performing remote installation / When optional devices are installed / When setting the memory redundant functions
l Boot Maintenance Manager
When changing the Boot Drive

Power on the peripheral devices.

Turn on the server and insert the
ServerStart Disc 1 CD-ROM immedi-
ately.

Set the hardware.
While "nn Seconds until system boots, press any
key to enter System option menu." is displayed at
the bottom of the server booting (posting) screen,
press any key. The System Options screen appears.
If a certain period of time passes without setting,
the system starts up from the CD-ROM and the
message prompting you to insert the ServerStart
floppy disk. Go on to the "7 Installing the OS".
For the use of Linux distribution with this server, refer to Fujitsu PRIMERGY website (http://primergy.fujitsu.com).

Installing the OS

This section explains the procedures to install the OS using ServerStart.
For details about os installation procedures when not using ServerStart, refer to the "User's Guide".
"Chapter 4 Manual OS Installation"

Insert the ServerStart floppy disk
supplied with this server, and click
[Create].
A network setup window for remote installation
appears.

Click [OK].

Click [Build a ServerStart Floppy Disk].
The completion message appears.

Click [OK].
[
Please Select your keyboard] window appears.
l BIOS Setup Utility
1. Select the "BIOS Setup Utility", and press the [Enter]
key.
2. Check/change the settings.
3. Press the [F10] key. After saving changes to settings,
the BIOS Setup Utility closes.
l Boot Maintenance Manager
1. Select the "Boot Maintenance Manager", and press
the [Enter] key.
2. Check/change Boot order.
3. Press the [ESC] key to exit Boot Maintenance Man-
ager.

Select your keyboard language from
the drop-down list and click [OK] .
The subsequent start procedure may take several
minutes. The [Welcome to ServerStart] window ap-
pears.

Click [Click here to prepare and/or initi-
ate an operating system installation].
The [Select the operating system to be installed]
window appears.
Click [Special Hints on Operating System Installa-
tion] and read the contents.

Click [MS Windows Operating Systems].

Click the OS to be installed.
