MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT
Fit the plug cap securely onto the
spark plug, and pull the cap lightly to
make sure that it is properly fitted.
If a torque wrench is not available,
this item should be serviced by a Ka-
wasaki dealer.
Tightening Torque
Spark Plug:
13 N·m (1.3 kgf·m, 115 in·lb)

Air Cleaner

A clogged air cleaner restricts the
engine's air intake, increasing fuel con-
sumption, reducing engine power, and
causing spark plug fouling.
The air cleaner element must be
cleaned in accordance with the Peri-
odic Maintenance Chart. In dusty
areas, the element should be cleaned
more frequently than the recom-
mended interval. After riding through
rain or on muddy roads, the element
should be cleaned immediately. The el-
ement should be replaced if it is dam-
aged.
Air Cleaner Element Removal
NOTE
In dusty areas, the element should
be replaced more frequently than the
recommended interval.
Remove the seat (see Seat section
in the GENERAL INFORMATION
chapter).
Remove the left shroud screw and
bolts.
Pull the left shroud outward to clear
the projections.
Remove the left shroud.
