    Important safety instructions Your BenQ projector is designed and tested to meet the latest standards for safety of information technology equipment. However, to ensure safe use of this product, it is important that you follow the instructions mentioned in this manual and marked on the product.
  • Page 6 This product is capable of displaying inverted images for ceiling mount installation. Please use BenQ’s Ceiling Mounting Kit for mounting the unit and ensure it is securely installed.

Allow at least 50 cm clearance from walls and free flow of air around the projector. - Locations where temperatures may become excessively high, such as the inside of a car with all windows rolled up.

    Remote control effective range Infra Red (IR) remote control sensors are located on the front and the back of the projector. The remote control must be held at an angle within 30 degrees of the projector’s IR remote control sensors to function correctly. The distance between the remote control and the sensors should not exceed 6 meters (~ 20 feet).

    Select this location with the projector suspended from the ceiling behind the screen. Note that a special rear projection screen and the BenQ Projector Ceiling Mounting Kit are required for this installation location. in the Advance > Mirror menu after you turn the projector on.

    The distance from the projector lens to the screen, the zoom setting, and the video format each factors in the projected image size. BenQ has provided separate tables of dimensions for both 16:9 and 4:3 screen ratios to assist you in determining the ideal location for your projector.

    Connection When connecting a signal source to the projector, be sure to: Turn all equipment off before making any connections. Use the correct signal cables for each source. Ensure the cables are firmly inserted. In the connections shown below, some cables are not included with the projector (see page 6).

    The following standards are supported in the digital TV function: • 480i • 576i • 720p (50/ 60 Hz) Connecting Video or S-Video devices S-Video or Video devices If the selected video image is not displayed after the projector is turned on and the correct video source has been selected, check that the video source is turned on and operating correctly.

    The start up procedure takes about 30 seconds after pressing Power. In the later stage of start up, a default BenQ logo is projected. If you are prompted for a password, press the arrow buttons to select the four password digits, then press Auto.

    Press and hold 4 for 5 seconds. The projector will display a coded number on the screen. Seek help from the local BenQ service center to decode the number. You may be required to provide proof of purchase documentation to verify that you are an authorized user of the projector.

    Adjusting the image Adjusting the height The projector is equipped with 1 quick-release adjuster foot and 2 rear adjuster feet. These adjusters change the image height and projection angle. To adjust the projector: Lift the projector up and press the adjuster button to release the adjuster.
  • Page 24: Correcting Keystone

    Correcting keystone Keystoning refers to the situation where the projected image is noticeably wider at either the top or bottom. It occurs when the projector is not perpendicular to the screen. To correct this, besides adjusting the height of the projector, you will need to manually correct it following ONE of these steps.

    Switiching input signal The projector can be connected to multiple devices at the same time. To sequentially select input sources, press the Source button on the projector control panel or the remote control. The selected source will be displayed at the bottom right of the screen for 3 seconds.

    Shutdown Press Power and a warning message appears. Press Power a second time to turn the projector off. The Power indicator light flashes orange and the lamp shuts down, the fans continue to run for approximately 110 seconds to cool down the projector.

    Using the menus The projector is equipped with on-screen display (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and settings. There are 10 different menu languages.     1. Picture menu Some picture adjustments are available only when certain input ports are in use. Unavailable adjustments are not shown on the screen.   • Page 30 Adjusts the brightness of the image. The higher the value, the brighter the image. And lower the setting, darker the image. Adjust this control so the black areas of the image appear just as black and that detail in the dark areas is visible.

    Maintenance Care of the projector Your projector needs little maintenance. The only thing you need to do on a regular basis is to keep the lens clean. Never remove any parts of the projector except the lamp. Contact your dealer if other parts needs replacing.

    Lamp information Warning message When the Lamp indicator lights up red or a message appears suggesting it is time to replace the lamp, please install a new lamp or consult your dealer. An old lamp may cause a malfunction in the projector and in some instances the lamp may break. For more detailed information on lamp warnings, please refer to page 34.

    Troubleshooting THE PROJECTOR DOES NOT TURN ON. Cause There is no power from the power cable. Attempting to turn the projector on again during the cooling process. NO PICTURE Cause The video source is not turned on or connected correctly. The projector is not correctly connected to the input source device.
