Page 11: Installing Firefly Software
Installing FireFly Software SmartDisk recommends that you install the software contained on the Installation CD. Although your FireFly may work without this software (drivers), installation of the software adds functionality on Macintosh computers and ensures optimum performance on PCs. The following software installation procedures only need to be done once on a computer. - Page 12 PC (Windows) Users The problem is Windows 98SE does not fully support hot unplugging. A system failure (blue screen) may occur if you remove the FireWire drive while the computer is running. To fix this problem (and improve performance), you must install the latest FireWire (1394) software drivers.
