About Your Automatic-Dimming Mirror
Congratulations! Your new automobile is equipped with an Gentex-brand
NVS® (Night Vision Safety™) mirror. During nighttime driving, this safety
feature senses distracting glare from vehicle headlights behind you and
automatically dims the mirror to eliminate glare and preserve your vi-
sion. The mirror also displays your compass heading and the exterior
temperature.

To Operate the Auto-Dimming Feature
Push in "C)" switch to turn the Mirror on/off. "Auto Dimming feature" is enabled
when green LED indicator is on.
To Operate the Compass Feature
1. Push and hold the display "C)" switch for 3 seconds. The visual directional heading
and outside temperature will be displayed.
2. Pushing the "C)" switch a second time for 3 seconds will turn off the visual display.
3. If the display reads "CAL", calibrate the compass by driving the vehicle in a complete
circle at less than five mph.
4. To adjust for Compass Variance:
a.
Press the "C)" button for more than 9 seconds or until the current zone number
will appear in the display.
b.
Find your current location and variance zone number on the zone map.
(See reverse)
c.
Press the "C)" button until the new zone number appears in the display.
After you stop pressing the button in, the display will show a compass
direction within a few seconds.
To Operate the Temperature Feature
1. Push and hold the display "C)" switch for 3 seconds. The vehicle's directional
heading and outside temperature will be displayed.
2. Pushing the "C)" switch a second time for 3 seconds will turn off the visual display.
3. The temperature display can be changed to Celsius by depressing the"C)" switch
for 6 seconds, until a "OC" appears by itself in the display window. Pushing the
"C)" switch again will toggle the display between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Five
seconds of no switch activity returns the display to its normal directional and
temperature reading.
Cleaning the Mirror
When cleaning the mirror, use a paper towel or similar material dampened with
glass cleaner. Do not spray glass cleaner directly on the mirror as that may
cause the liquid cleaner to enter the mirror housing and damage the mirror.

    ONLY FOR MIRRORS WITH COMPASS Adjust compass zone after mirror installation. a) The zone setting is factory preset to Zone 8. Refer to Compass Calibration Zone Map to find correct compass zone setting for your geographical location. b) To change the zone setting, push and hold the button for approximately 9 seconds until a number appears in the display.

  • Page 7 8. Remove OEM mirror. (Fig. 6,7 or 8) C C AUTION C C AUTION Do not use excessive force. Damage to windshield could occur. a) Loosen #T20 torx screw on mirror mount and slide mirror upwards off from windshield button. (Fig. 6) - - OR - - b) Insert 4mm into opening at bottom of mirror mount to disengage locking tab and slide mirror upwards off from windshield button.
  • Page 8 2. Disconnect vehicle's negative battery terminal. (Fig. 11) 3. Plug auto-dimming mirror harness into back of mirror. (Fig. 12) 4. Route harness up to vehicle headliner. (Fig. 13) a) Install optional wire cover (if purchased). (Fig. 14) 5. Route haress across vehicle headliner to top of A-pillar on side of vehicle where vehicle connection wires / fuse block were found.
  • Page 9 7. Route harness to vehicle connection wires. a) Using fish-wire, route harness from base of A-pillar through dash and into connection wire / fuse block area. (Fig. 17) 8. Attach wire tap to vehicle wire marked IGNITION. a) Center blade of wire tap on IGNITION wire and close wire tap with pliers.
  • Page 10 d) Slide sensor clip over edge of bumper or grille. (Fig. 23) e) Ensure clip is fully engaged to bumper or grille and that sensor secure. f) Replace splash guard if removed. 2. Locate routing point for temperature harness wire on vehicle CAUTION firewall.
  • Page 11 d) Pull harness through grommet and into passenger compartment. (Fig. 29) e) Remove tape from harness. f) Inside engine compartment, leave extra wire for drip loop in front of grommet. g) Apply silicone sealant to grommet where harness wire passes through, to seal opening.

    Compass Zone Adjustment 1. Adjust compass zone after EC mirror installation. a) The zone setting is factory preset to Zone 8. Refer to Compass Calibration Zone Map to find correct compass zone setting for your geographical location. (Fig. 37) b) To change the zone setting, push and hold the button for approximately 9 seconds until a number appears in the display.
  • Page 14 Temperature Feature (if equipped) 1. To change display from degrees Fahrenheit to degree Celsius. a) Push and hold the button for approximately 4 seconds until the display blinks “°C” or “°F”. b) Release then toggle the button to select desired display mode.
