PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS SAVE THIS MANUAL You will need this manual for the safety warnings and precautions, assembly, operating, inspection, maintenance and cleaning procedures, parts list and assembly diagram. Keep your invoice with this manual. Write the invoice number on the inside of the front cover. Keep this manual and invoice in a safe and dry place for future reference.
  • Page 3: Electrical Safety

ELECTRICAL SAFETY Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet properly installed and grounded in accordance with all codes and ordinances. Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded.
  • Page 4 Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions.
  • Page 5: Specific Safety Rules

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES Maintain labels and nameplates on the Screwdriver. These carry important information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement. Always wear ANSI approved safety impact eye goggles when using the Screwdriver.
  • Page 6 Always recharge the Battery (31) when tool performance begins to diminish. Never over-discharge a Battery by using the tool even after tool performance is decreasing. Never attempt to discharge a tool’s Battery by continuing to pull the tool’s Forward/Reverse Switch (49). When tool performance begins to diminish, stop the tool, and recharge the Battery for optimal performance.
  • Page 7: Grounded Tools: Tools With Three Prong Plugs

GROUNDED TOOLS: TOOLS WITH THREE PRONG PLUGS Tools marked with “Grounding Required” have a three wire cord and three prong grounding plug. The plug must be connected to a properly grounded outlet. If the tool should electrically malfunction or break down, grounding provides a low resistance path to carry electricity away from the user, reducing the risk of electric shock.
  • Page 8: Extension Cords

EXTENSION CORDS Grounded tools require a three wire extension cord. Double Insulated tools can use either a two or three wire extension cord. As the distance from the supply outlet increases, you must use a heavier gauge extension cord. Using extension cords with inadequately sized wire causes a serious drop in voltage, resulting in loss of power and possible tool damage.

  • Page 10 To charge the Battery (31), insert the Charger’s (50) cable into the DC Plug (33) located at the top of the Screwdriver body. (See Figure E.) Plug the Charger (50) into a 120 volt, grounded, electrical outlet. (See Figure E.) Once the Battery is fully charged (within 3 to 5 hours) the Charger will automatically shut off.
  • Page 11 To Install A Screwdriver Bit: The chuck of the Screwdriver is a self-locking type. When a screwdriver bit (not included) is inserted, the chuck will grip it automatically. If the bit is not long enough for the chuck to securely grip, connect a magnetic extension rod (not included) to the bit.
  • Page 12 To Adjust The Torque: The Screwdriver is designed with 22 adjustable torque positions. To adjust the torque, turn off the Screwdriver and wait until the screwdriver bit stops rotating. Then, turn the Clutch Cap (7) to the desired setting. (See Figure G.) Operating Tips: When driving screws into wood or plastics, drill a pilot hole first in the workpiece.

INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING WARNING! Make sure the Forward/Reverse Switch (49) of the Screwdriver is in its “PAUSE” (middle) position and the tool is disconnected from its Charger (50) prior to performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning procedures. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Screwdriver and its Charger (50).
