MOON SuperNova CD Player Introduction Your MOON SuperNova CD Player incorporates many significant design features to achieve its “world class” level of performance. This is an abbreviated list of the more important features: 24-bit/352.8kHz internal upsampling with 8X oversampling. Ultra-high performance 24-bit BurrBrown PCM1798 DAC/Digital Filter.
Once you’ve decided on a location for the SuperNova, you should install the four (4) pointed screw-on cones into the threaded holes located on the bottom of the four (4) the corner posts of the CD Player chassis. These cones will easily scratch most surfaces, therefore it’s advisable to follow these instructions: Place your SuperNova on a soft surface (i.e.
MOON SuperNova CD Player Front Panel Controls The front panel will look similar to Figure 1 (above). The large digital display window indicates the track number of the compact disc currently playing (or the total number of tracks in stop mode) and corresponding time information.

To turn the display back on, simply press and hold the “Display” button for 3 seconds. The sonic performance of the MOON SuperNova CD Player may improve slightly when the display is turned off. The “Source” button is used to select an external digital source which must be connected to the BNC S/PDIF digital input on the rear panel.
Please refer to the next section entitled SimLink for more details. Your MOON SuperNova CD Player has a 1/8” mini jack input for use with aftermarket infrared remote control receivers. The “IR in” connector is located on the upper right section of the rear panel.
We recommend that you leave your MOON SuperNova CD Player powered up at all times to maintain optimal performance. In the event that you plan to be away from your home for a few days, powering off the CD Player may not be a bad idea.
____________________________________________________________________________________ Balanced Operation / Remote Control Operation The MOON SuperNova CD Player uses the ‘FRM-2’ full function, all aluminum remote control (figure 3). It operates on the Philips RC-5 communication protocol and can be used with other Simaudio MOON components such as the P-8, P-5 and P-3 Preamplifiers, as well as the i-7, i-5 and i-3 integrated amplifiers.
