  • How do I use the Silvercrest SLE 280 A2 dehumidifier?

    To use the Silvercrest SLE 280 A2 dehumidifier, follow these steps:

    1. Switching On/Off: Press the STAND-BY button (21) to switch the appliance on or off. When on, the OPERATION LED (20) lights up; when off, it goes out.
    2. Air Outlet Valve: Always open the air outlet valve (1), regardless of the selected program. If it's not opened, the overheating guard will switch the appliance off for approximately 3 minutes.
    3. Selecting Programmes: The appliance has 4 distinct programmes. You can switch between them by pressing the MODE button (24). The LED programmes (16) of the selected programme will light up.
      • Automatic Mode: The relative humidity (rh) is permanently set to 55%. Dehumidification occurs until this value is reached, then the compressor switches off. If rh increases, it switches on again. The appliance works at three intensity levels: highest above 70% rh, standard between 55% and 70% rh, and only the fan runs below 55% rh.
      • Target Humidity: You can select rh in 5% increments between 30% and 80% using the arrow keys (23). The appliance dehumidifies at a low intensity until the defined value is attained, then switches off. It switches on again if rh increases.
      • Drying Laundry: This programme dehumidifies at the highest intensity to dry damp laundry or shoes faster. Direct the air current towards the items to be dried using the air outlet valve (1).
      • Air Purification: No dehumidification occurs in this programme; the air is purified by being drawn through the filter.
    4. Timer: The timer can be combined with all four programmes. You can select a switch-off time from 1 to 24 hours. Press the TIMER button (22) during operation, and the TIMER LED (18) will flash. Use the arrow keys (23) to set the time. The selected time flashes on the display (17) for 3 seconds and is then stored. To end the timer prematurely, press the TIMER button (22) twice or switch the appliance off with the STAND-BY button (21).
    5. Water Tank: Ensure the water tank (5) is fully inserted for proper condensate collection. If the tank is full or removed, the appliance switches off, the TANK FULL LED (19) flashes, and an audible signal is emitted.

      • Possible cause: The appliance was overly agitated during positioning. There is residual water in the appliance. Rectification: This is a normal feature of the appliance. When re-positioning, ensure it is not overly agitated.

    The optimal ambient temperature for dehumidifying the air is 5 °C to 35 °C. Using a dehumidifier at temperatures below 5 °C is redundant, as there is little humidity in the air. For humidity settings, the appliance offers two main programmes:

    • In AUTOMATIC MODE, the relative humidity (rh) is permanently set to 55%. The appliance dehumidifies until this value is attained.
    • In TARGET HUMIDITY programme, you can select relative humidity in 5% increments between 30% and 80%. You can also select "CO" for sustained dehumidification.

    To clean the Silvercrest SLE 280 A2 dehumidifier, follow these steps:

    1. Before Cleaning: Always disconnect the mains plug from the mains power socket. Protect the appliance from moisture and fluid ingress. Never immerse it in water. Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents. Do not clean the water tank (5) in a dishwasher.
    2. Casing: If needed, wipe the casing with a slightly damp cloth.
    3. Water Tank: Remove the water tank (5), pour out the water, and then thoroughly dry it both inside and out before replacing it.
      • To clean the inside of the water tank (5), remove the black lid by releasing the carrying handle from the retainer while pressing it out sideways. Ensure the pins on the handle align with the grooves on the water tank (5).
      • It is recommended to clean the water tank (5) regularly (every two weeks) to prevent mold and bacteria buildup. Fill the tank with lukewarm water and a standard detergent, then rinse repeatedly with lukewarm water. For disinfection, use a standard, alcohol-based disinfecting agent or high-proof alcohol, followed by repeated rinsing.
    4. Filters: The performance of the appliance depends on filter cleanliness.
      • The plastic filter (9) should be washed every 2 weeks.
      • The carbon filter (10) should be cleaned every 2 weeks and changed every 6 months.
      • To remove filters: Switch off the appliance and remove the mains plug. Remove the water tank (5). To remove the air inlet grille (8), press its three plastic lugs upwards slightly, then remove the grille downwards. To remove the plastic filter (9), press its two plastic lugs downwards slightly, then pull the filter (including plastic frames) downwards. The carbon filter (10) is located behind the plastic filter (9); remove it by lifting the plastic filter from under the retaining tabs. Then remove the carbon filter (10).
      • Wash both filters with lukewarm water. Allow both filters to dry completely before re-inserting them. Follow the reverse sequence to insert.

    Yes, the Silvercrest SLE 280 A2 dehumidifier supports continuous drainage. In very damp rooms, it is often more appropriate for water to be drained directly by means of a tube rather than collecting in the water tank. You can use the supplied hose (25) or the EU garden hose adapter (26) to set up a permanent drainage system.

    To set up continuous drainage:

    1. Unscrew the closure (13) on the rear of the appliance.
    2. Either connect the supplied hose (25) to the outlet (14) or screw the EU garden hose adapter (26) to the outlet (14).
    3. If using the EU garden hose adapter (26), screw a garden hose onto it.

    Important notes for continuous drainage:

    • When draining via the hose, the appliance runs continuously.
    • Ensure the hose is not kinked and runs downwards over its entire length, as the appliance does not have a pump for drainage.
    • Check all connections regularly for watertightness.
    • Screw the EU garden hose adapter (26) hand-tight only; do not use a wrench.
    • Ensure the seal of the EU garden hose adapter (26) is always inserted (it's fitted on delivery).
    • Depending on your garden hose system, you may need an additional adapter.
