    The dust cup on mine comes off by twisting or unscrewing it. But the hepa filter comes off when you press the "dust cup release button&quo​t; which is hidden under the hose when the hose is attached to the exhaust. Mine didn't come with a manual and might be a little different from the one pictured here. I found it difficult to get the hepa filter and dust cup back on.
