    1.3 Overview for Installing CDRPan This Installation Manual is one of two documents you will need to install the CDRPan system completely. After performing the installation procedures in this document, you should refer to the CDRPan User’s Guide (P/N B1051008) to continue installing other parts of CDRPan system and to operate it.

    1.4 Before You Start Installing CDRPan Prior to installing CDRPan on your panoramic system, please perform the following checks. Make sure your panoramic system is operating properly. Familiarize yourself with the installation steps before performing them. Determine the location of your computer. This will be useful when you install the Remote Module and need to run cables between it and your computer.

    2.2 Tools and Materials To install the sensor and codestrip, you will need the following tools and materials. A. Allen key to remove patient alignment adjustment knob and tighten replacement knob in position. B. Allen key (3/32 in.) to adjust clearance between encoder and codestrip. C.

  • Page 16 B. Use the new adjustment knob provided with your CDRPan system and secure it in position with the allen wrench. This replacement knob has a smaller diameter to ensure that the drum can travel without interference once the sensor assembly is installed.

    3.3 Install Sensor Assembly and Sensor Clip A. Rotate the drum away from the faceplate aperture. B. Carefully slide the sensor assembly into the aperture until the upper guide is seated firmly at the top of the aperture slit and the lower guide fits in the bottom of the aperture.

    3.6 Prepare to Install Codestrip A. Sight the encoder from the edge of the faceplate, and then mark that spot using a fine- point marker or pen. B. Rotate the drum, marking a straight line around it. This line will be used for aligning and mounting the codestrip.

    3.7 Install Codestrip A. Position the codestrip along the guideline drawn in the step above. B. Remove protective layer from mounting tape and apply the codestrip with adhesive side towards drum. Ensure there are NO kinks or bubbles when the codestrip is applied.

    3.8 Clearance Adjustments A. With X-ray source off, move the rotating arm of the panoramic machine to verify that the bottom of the sensor assembly clears all of the patient alignment supports. B. Also verify that the sensor cable does not kink, bind, or pull out of clips when the rotating arm is in motion.

    4. Remote Module, Power Supply, and PCI Board 4.1 Install Remote Module 4.1.1 Tools and Materials To install the remote module, you will need velcro patches to secure the module to the top of the panoramic machine, and a screwdriver to secure the sensor cable connector to the remote module.

    D. The cables on the opposite side of the remote module (power supply and PCI datacable) will be connected after the power supply and the PCI board installation procedures are performed. 4.2 Install Power Supply 4.2.1 Tools and Materials To install the power supply, you will need cable holders and clamps (P/N B4700140) to secure the cable along the side of the panoramic machine and up to the remote module.

    4.3 Install PCI Board 4.3.1 Tools and Materials To install the PCI board you will need a small screwdriver to remove the cover from your computer; to secure the PCI board in its slot, and to secure one end of the data cable to the remote module and the other end to the PCI board.
  • Page 29 E. Connect the other end of the data cable to the remote module. Then, use a small secrewdriver to tighten the screws on the connector. F. Refer to the CDRPan User’s Guide (P/N B1051008) to continue with CDRPan system installation.
