21 Monitoring Maternal Heart / Pulse Rate

Misidentification of MHR for FHR

To reduce the possibility of mistaking the MHR for FHR, it is recommended that you monitor both
maternal and fetal heart rates (see "Confirm Fetal Life Before Using the Monitor" on page 10 and
"Cross-Channel Verification (CCV)" on page 135).

MHR from MECG Electrodes

You can measure MHR using the equipment combinations shown in the following figures.
The figure below shows the complete connection chain from the foam electrodes applied to the
patient to the fetal monitor using the patient module.
