HOW SAFE IS THE LASER?

The laser source used in this measurement system is a low-power lIes� than 1 mW) Helium-Neon
laser, It will nOI cut metal, burn paper, or cook your food. Special safelY equipment in the form of
tinted glasses, shielding, etc., is not required.
However. this device 15 a state-of-the art scientific instrument, and should be Ireated with Cllre
and respect. We are required to provide In this User'sGuidc cerlain WARNINGs and CAUTIONs,
which you should read before you turn on the laser.
The most Imporlant thing to remember is Ihal neither you nor any other person should stare
directly at the laser light beam. or at any reflection of It from a polished surface.

not subJect to phySical abuse, excessive dirt, temperature, moisture, or vibration. Convenient
storage kits are provided for the Optics. Hardware and c;abl� should be kept In boxes, but may
be kepi on open shelves in relatively clean areas.
