1. Tap lightly on the transmission drive shaft
with a soft hammer to remove.

Remove assembly carefully. Note the position
of each part. Pay particular attention to the
location and direction of shift forks.
Inspection
1. Inspect each shift fork for signs of gall-
ing on gear contact surfaces. Check for
bending. Make sure each fork slides freely
on its guide bar.
