Mounting Plate Installation without an
Existing Cutout
Use one of the following methods: Using a drill or
Using a metal-cutting saw for cutting the mounting
hole depending on the tools available.

Using a drill:

1. See Figure 8. Use this diagram to locate the
holes from the corner of the case. Do not use
the corner of the mounting plate as the
reference point. Mark the locations on the fume
hood.
2. See Figure 4. Using the mounting plate as a
template, mark the locations of the two mounting
holes.
3. Drill the required holes using the locations and
sizes shown in Figure 8.
NOTE:
If FLN or AUX connections are not
required for installation, then only
drill holes for the air tube and power.
4. Using a 1/8-inch (3.0 mm) bit, drill the two
mounting holes.
5. Using the screws provided, attach the mounting
plate to the mounting surface.

Using a metal-cutting saw:

1. See Figure 9. Use this diagram to locate the
rectangular cutout from the corner of the case.
Do not use the corner of the mounting plate as
the reference point.
2. Using the mounting plate as a template, mark
the locations of the two mounting holes and the
2 inch × 3 inch (5.0 × 8.0 cm) cutout.
See Figure 4.

3. Using a metal-cutting saw or other suitable tool,
remove the marked rectangular area.
4. Using a 1/8-inch (3.0 mm) bit, drill the two
mounting holes.
5. Using the screws provided, attach the mounting
plate to the mounting surface.
6. Proceed to Sidewall Hose Mounting.

Sidewall Hose Mounting:

NOTE:
The location of the sidewall adapter greatly
affects the performance of the Fume Hood
Monitor. Use the FHM Hood Evaluation
Kit, part number 546-00320, to accurately
determine the location for the sidewall
adapter.
1. Mark the location of the hole for the air sensor
hose 3 inches (7.5 cm) above the highest sash
opening and 6 to 8 inches (15.0 to 20.0 cm)
back from the sash track.
NOTE:
The hole location for the air sensor
may vary slightly due to hood
construction. On fume hoods with a
mechanical stop, do not use the
mechanical stop as a reference
point. Use the highest possible open
position of the sash as the reference
point.
2. At the mark found in step 1, drill a 1/2- inch
(13.0 mm) hole in the sidewall of the fume hood.
CAUTION:
If the construction of the fume hood
contains fiber-cement panels, then use
diamond core drill bits to drill holes inside
the fume hood. Fiber-cement panels are
used for impact, moisture, and fire
resistant applications. Diamond core drill
bits are designed for hard and abrasive
materials. Standard drill bits may crack and
damage fiber-cement panels.
