Problem of Internal Devices and Other Hardware

Unable to access the internal or external devices
 Are cables properly connected?
Make sure that the interface cables and power cord are properly connected. Also make sure that the
cables are connected in the correct order.
 Is the power-on order correct?
When the server has any external devices connected, power on the external devices first, then the
server.
 Did you install drivers for connected optional devices?
Some optional devices require specific device drivers. Refer to the manual that comes with the device to
install its driver.
 Is option board setting correct?
Refer to the manual that comes with the board for details to specify I/O port address, and other settings.

The keyboard or mouse does not work
 Is the cable properly connected?
Make sure that the cable is connected to the connector on the front or rear of the server.
 Is BIOS configuration correct?
In System Utility, you can change the configuration of USB. In System Utility, from System
Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > System Options > USB Options, check the
configuration of USB port to which the keyboard is connected.
 Are the server drivers installed?
Refer to the manual that comes with your OS to check that the keyboard and mouse drivers are
installed.

Unable to access the hard disk drive
 Is the hard disk drive supported by the server?
Operation of any device that is not authorized by NEC is not supported.
 Is the hard disk drive properly installed?
Check the hard disk drive installation status and the cable connections.
Note
Drive roaming lets you move disk drives and arrays while maintaining data
availability. You can move one or more disk drives in a configured logical drive to a
different bay position as long as the new bay position is accessible by the same
controller. In addition, you can move a complete array from one controller to
another, even if controllers are in different servers. The logical drive status must be
good before you move physical drives to a new bay position.
Drive roaming is an offline feature. There is no method for removing an array while
the server is online and then moving it to a new physical location.
