Drive Clutch/Driven Clutch
Alignment
The parallelism and the offset between the drive clutch
and driven clutch are set at the factory. Normally, no
adjustment is necessary as long as neither the drive
clutch nor the driven clutch is removed or disassem-
bled. However, if premature drive belt wear is experi-
enced or if the drive belt turns over, the drive clutch/
driven clutch alignment must be checked. If the opera-
tor does not feel qualified to align the clutch/clutch,
see an authorized Arctic Cat Snowmobile dealer for
this service.

Drive Chain Tension

The drive chain must be properly tensioned for proper
operation to prevent "ratcheting" and unnecessary
chain/sprocket wear. After the first 5 miles (and before
every race), the chain tensioner should be adjusted.
Arctic Cat recommends that the chain, sprockets, and
chain tensioner be checked for wear and proper align-
ment and adjustment after every race or whenever a
drive chain related problem is suspected. If the opera-
tor does not feel qualified to service the drive chain,
see an authorized Arctic Cat Snowmobile dealer for
this service. To adjust the drive chain tensioner, use the
following procedure:
1. Loosen the jam nut on the chain tensioner adjust-
ment bolt.
2. Tighten the adjustment bolt finger-tight.
NOTE: If the adjustment bolt will not turn using
the fingers (because of dirty threads), use a
wrench to loosen the bolt; then using the fingers,
adjust the bolt until it is finger-tight. Once the
adjustment bolt becomes difficult to turn by hand,
the drive chain is properly tensioned. DO NOT
OVER-TIGHTEN THE CHAIN.
3. Lock the adjustment by bottoming the jam nut
against the chain case.

Fuel Pump

The fuel pump is designed to provide adequate amount
of gas to the carburetors at all throttle settings. If the
operator does not feel qualified to diagnose fuel deliv-
ery problems, see an authorized Arctic Cat Snowmo-
bile dealer for this service.
NOTE: The fuel pump also has an automatic
shut-off valve which prevents gasoline flow when
the engine is not running.

Shock Absorbers

Each shock absorber should be visibly checked daily for
excessive fluid leakage, cracks or breaks in the lower
case, a bent plunger, and wear or leakage in the hoses. If
any one of these conditions is detected, replacement is
necessary. If the operator does not feel qualified to ser-
vice or replace shock absorbers, see an authorized Arc-
tic Cat Snowmobile dealer for this service.

Track Studs

NOTE: The track on this snowmobile is not
equipped with studs. The decision to install studs
should be made only after reviewing the Interna-
tional Snowmobile Racing, Inc. regulations as they
pertain to the type of racing you participate in. Arc-
tic Cat has a variety of studding products available
from your authorized Arctic Cat Snowmobile
dealer.

Towing

If this snowmobile is to be towed by another snowmo-
bile, do not tow using the loops in the skis. The tow
rope should be attached to the lower A-arms.
