Before performing the SP setup using the Service Processor Setup Wizard, determine which of the
following configurations best describes the SP connectivity model for the operating site:
High Speed. The SP uses an Ethernet connection to the customer network for all external
communications. Remote control of the SP may or may not be permitted. When permitted,
remote control of the SP also occurs through the customer network.
Mixed. The SP uses an Ethernet connection to the customer network for all external
communications. Remote control of the SP is permitted but must occur through a serial modem
connection using a customer-supplied dialup number.
Secure site. The SP is configured to use the customer network to monitor the storage system.
However, access is unavailable to or from the SP from outside of the customer network.
NOTE:
configuration is irreversible. To configure for allowing file transfer, the SP requires a rebuild
before rerunning the Service Processor Setup Wizard. To rebuild the SP, see HP 3PAR Service
Processor Software Rebuild Instructions.
Use the setup instructions in the following sections to complete the SP setup based on one of the
four connectivity models.
NOTE: On the SP output screens, brackets [] denote default responses. If you press ENTER without
entering a response, the SP uses the default response indicated in brackets, when present.
NOTE: If at any time, you press CTRL+C to escape the SP setup script, restart the process by
entering /sp/prod/code/csst/bin/.sbin/spmob and pressing ENTER.

High Speed Setup

Use the following procedure to set up the SP at a site where an Ethernet connection to the customer
network is used to monitor the storage system and for all external communications to the SP. Remote
control of the SP may or may not be permitted, but when permitted must also use the customer
network. Secure Network Mode can be configured only for high speed connectivity.
Configuring the SP With SP Mode
1. Connect the maintenance PC to the SP through serial connection, then power on the SP and
log in as the root user.
2. Press ENTER or type yes and press ENTER to begin the Service Processor Setup Wizard.
3. Press ENTER or type no and press ENTER.
CAUTION:
rebuild of the SP is required if the SP needs to establish communication link with HP Central.
4. Type 1 to assign SP Mode for file transfer/remote operations.
