    To install batteries in the remote control: 1. Press down the tab on the cover and pull the cover in the direction of the arrow. 2. Insert the included batteries. Ensure that the polarities correctly match the markings inside the battery compartment.
  • Page 28 Installation • Do not drop the remote control or expose it to moisture or high temperature. • The remote control may malfunction under a fluorescent lamp. If that occurs, move the plasma display away from the fluorescent lamp. • Make sure that there is nothing obstructing the infrared beam between the remote control and the IR receiver on the plasma display.

    Installation Digital Video Connection: The PlasmaWall has a DVI input, labeled DIGITAL RGB. Connect the DVI output from the DHD Controller to this input, using a standard DVI cable. RGBHV Connection: Connect the RGBHV output from the DHD Controller to the ANALOG RGB IN input on the PlasmaWall.

    Connect your video sources to the DHD Controller as shown and described in the sections that follow. DVI Connections: See Figure 3-5. Use the DVI inputs whenever possible. This ensures the highest video quality because the signal is carried in the digital domain throughout the entire signal path, from source component output into the display.

    Use a standard, 9-pin RS-232 cable to connect a PC or home theater control/automation system (if present) to the RS-232 Control port on the DHD Controller; see Figure 3-9. For more information about using this connection, refer to Serial Communications on page 53.

    Installation ➤ Cable Management To minimize cable clutter, you can use the cable ties provided with the PlasmaWall to bundle the video, control and power cables at the back of the display. Install the cable ties as shown in Figure 3-11. Cables can be routed to the right or left. Do not allow excessive stress to be placed on the ends of cables.

    1. Turn on your source components. 2. Plug the female end of the power cord into the AC receptacle on the rear of the PlasmaWall. Connect the other end to your AC power source. 3. Similarly connect the DHD Controller to a nearby AC outlet.

    Operation Selecting the Input Source Setting the Computer Display Properties By default, the PlasmaWall is configured to display the signal received on its RGBHV (ANALOG RGB IN) input. To use the DVI-D (DIGITAL RGB) input instead: 1. Press MENU and enter the Service Menu passcode. You must enter a passcode to access the Service menu.

    5. Maintenance and Troubleshooting Regular cleaning will extend the life and performance of the PlasmaWall. Before cleaning, be sure to unplug the power cord from the power outlet. Do not under any circumstances use solvents such as benzene or thinner to clean the PlasmaWall.

    To interface the PlasmaWall with a home theater automation/control system or a PC running terminal emulation software, connect it to the RS-232 output of the DHD Controller as shown in Figure 3-3. Connect your control system or PC to the RS-232 input of the DHD Controller as shown in Figure 3-9.

However, there are two settings internal to the PlasmaWall that can improve the displayed image quality on INPUT 1: VIDEO NR (noise reduction) and MPEG FILTER.

    PlasmaWall Service Remote Control ➤ MPEG Filter Use the MPEG Filter to reduce or eliminate so-called “mosquito noise” in MPEG-compressed video signals (digital broadcasts or DVDs). Set it to LOW, MIDDLE or HIGH, as needed to minimize distortion around the edges of moving objects, moving artifacts around edges and/or blotchy noise patterns superimposed over the objects.
