Recording Sound from a Mic or Guitar

Here's how to record from a mic or guitar connected to the Fantom-G.
Connecting your equipment
Connect your mic, guitar, or portable audio player as shown below.
Connecting a mic
When using a condenser mic that
requires a balanced (XLR) connection
that supplies phantom power,
select the "PHANTOM ON" setting.
When using a dynamic mic etc. that
has a phone plug,
select the "PHANTOM OFF" setting.
You must leave the phantom power turned off unless you've
connected a condenser mic that requires a phantom power supply.
Supplying phantom power to a dynamic mic or audio playback device
will cause malfunctions. For details on the specifications of your mic,
refer to the owner's manual for your mic. (The Fantom-G's phantom
power supply is DC 48V, 10 mA maximum.)
Connecting a guitar or bass
When connecting a guitar or bass directly, connect it to the
MIC/GUITAR jack.
For a guitar or bass,
select the "GUITAR (Hi-Z)" setting.
Connecting a portable audio player
When connecting a portable audio player, stereo system, or CD
player, use audio cables to connect its output jacks (LINE OUT
jacks or AUX OUT jacks, etc.) to the Fantom-G's LINE input jacks.
You cannot connect a record player (turntable) directly to the Fantom-G.
If you want to connect a record player, you must use an audio amp that's
equipped with a record player input, or connect a phono equalizer
between the record player and the Fantom-G.
Connecting a digital audio source
When digitally connecting equipment such as a DAT, use a
coaxial cable to connect its output jack (e.g., DIGITAL OUT
jack) to the Fantom-G's DIGITAL AUDIO IN jack.
When an external device is connected to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN jack,
and you disconnect the cable or power-off the external device, noise
may subsequently be heard in the input from DIGITAL AUDIO IN. If this
occurs, correctly re-connect your external device, or turn off the
Fantom-G's [MIX IN] switch.
