Fault/Malfunction
Engine will not start (continued)
Improper Control Operation:
Engine does not speed up
Defective Throttle Control Relay
Improper Control Operation:
Engine does not slow down

Glow plugs not engaging
Fuel solenoid is faulty
Throttle solenoid stuck
Fuel shut-off solenoid stuck
Operating pressure too high
If pressure too high, always on high
speed.
Fuel filter partly plugged
Pressure switch faulty
Solenoid not actuating
Leak in control line
Pressure switch out of adjustment
Generator switch left on
Pressure switch faulty
Throttle solenoid stuck
Low oil level
Engine coolant level low
Located too close to obstruction

SECTION 6: TROUBLESHOOTING
Use Section 7, Illustrated Parts List, to
visually identify and confirm any part
number that may need to be replaced.
Corrective Action
Check fuse, wiring, and Engine Operation
Manual.
Replace fuel solenoid.
Lubricate; replace throttle solenoid if
necessary.
Free governor and lubricate if necessary.
Adjust to proper pressure setting. Refer to
Section 5.4.2, Adjusting the Pressure
Setting. Replace if switch continues to
deviate from setting.
Check pressure setting.
Replace fuel filter. Refer to the Engine
Operation Manual.
Auxiliary fuel pump may be needed for
remote fuel tank. Refer to Section 3,
Installation.
Replace pressure switch.
Inspect; replace if necessary.
Check for leaks; replace line if necessary.
Adjust to proper pressure setting. Refer to
Section 5.4.2, Adjusting the Pressure
Setting. Replace if switch continues to
deviate from setting.
Turn generator switch off.
Replace pressure switch.
Free governor and lubricate if necessary.
Refer to Engine Operation Manual.
Check engine oil level. Consult the Engine
Operation Manual for additional information
on engine maintenance.
Check coolant level; add if necessary.
Move further from obstruction.
