Symptoms and Questions
Top burners do not light or do not burn evenly.
Burner flames are very large or yellow.
Surface burners light but the oven does not.
Food does not bake or roast properly.
Food does not broil properly in the oven.
Oven temperature is too hot or too cold.
Clock and timer do not work.
Oven light does not work.
Self clean is not working.
"Crackling" or "popping" sound.
y Make sure that the electrical plug is inserted into a live, properly grounded
outlet.
y Remove the burners and clean them. Check the electrode area for burnt-on
food or grease. See the Burner Head/Caps section in the Care and Cleaning
section.
y Make sure that the burner parts are installed correctly.

y Improper air to gas proportion.
y If range is connected to LP gas, contact the technician who installed the
range or made the conversion.
y The flames on the surface burners may burn yellow in the presence of high
humidity, such as a rainy day or a nearby humidifier.
Make sure that the gas pressure regulator valve, located behind the range, is
fully open.
y Incorrect oven control settings. See "Using control panel" in the How to Use
section.
y Incorrect rack position. See "Replace and remove Oven rack" or "Shelf
position Baking time" in the How To Use section.
y Incorrect cookware is being used. See "Roast" or "Bake" in the How To Use
Section.
y Oven thermostat needs adjustment.

y The Clock is not set correctly. See "How to set the clock and the timer" in the
Operating Instructions section.
y Aluminum foil used improperly in the oven. See "Using the oven."
y Incorrect oven control settings. See the Using the Control Panel section in the
How to Use section.
y The oven door is not closed. See the Using the Oven section in the How to Use
section.
y Aluminum foil used on the broiling pan and grid is not fitted properly.
The oven thermostat needs adjustment. See the Adjusting Oven Temperature
section in the Operating Instructions section.
y Make sure the electrical plug is inserted into a live, properly grounded outlet.
Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.
y Improper oven control settings. See the How to Use section.
y The light bulb is loose or defective. Tighten or replace the bulb.
y The plug on the range is not completely inserted in the electrical outlet. Make
sure the electrical plug is inserted into a live, properly grounded outlet.
y The oven temperature is too high to run a Self Clean cycle. Allow the range to
cool down to room temperature and reset the controls.
y Improper oven control settings. See the Self Clean section in the Care and
Cleaning section.
This is the sound of the metal heating up and cooling down during both the
cooking and cleaning functions. This is normal.
