Configuring IPv6 MPLS L3VPN

In this chapter, "MSR2000" refers to MSR2003. "MSR3000" collectively refers to MSR3012, MSR3024,
MSR3044, MSR3064. "MSR4000" collectively refers to MSR4060 and MSR4080.

Overview

IPv6 MPLS L3VPN uses BGP to advertise IPv6 VPN routes and uses MPLS to forward IPv6 VPN packets
on the service provider backbone.
Figure 79
shows a typical IPv6 MPLS L3VPN model. The service provider backbone in the IPv6 MPLS
L3VPN model is an IPv4 network. IPv6 runs inside the VPNs and between CE and PE. Therefore, PEs must
support both IPv4 and IPv6. The PE-CE interfaces of a PE run IPv6, and the PE-P interface of a PE runs
IPv4.
