Configuring IM 308-C as DP slave

As of release 3, the IM 308-C can be operated as:
DP master
DP slave
or as
DP master and DP slave (see Section 3.6).
The procedure for configuring an IM 308-C as DP slave is as follows:
1. Select the IM 308-C/slave as DP slave (e.g. by selecting Configure
Slave parameters).
2. Select a station number and press the "OK" button to confirm.
Result: The "Slave parameters" dialog box is opened.
3. Select "SIMATIC" as the family and "IM 308-C DP Slave" as the station
type.
4. Press the Configure ... button to switch to the"Master host selection" dia-
log box.
5. Select the host station type and press the "OK" button to confirm.
Result: The "Configure: IM 308-C/Slave" dialog box is opened.
6. Press the "ID " button and enter the input and output devices. Remember:
– Inputs: input data of the DP slave CPU;
Outputs: output data of the DP slave CPU
– The maximum block size is 16 words.
7. Press the "OK" button three times to confirm:
Result: COM ET 200 Windows automatically creates a new master sys-
tem for the IM 308-C as DP slave. The meanings of the switches are:
– m: IM 308-C operates as DP master
– s: IM 308-C operates as DP slave
– m + s: IM 308-C operates as DP master and as DP slave.
8. Go to the master system in which the IM 308-C/DP slave is the DP master
(master system is indicated by "m" or "m + s").
9. Edit the host and master parameters of the IM 308-C/DP slave.
10. Once you have completed all entries for the bus configuration, export the
data for this master system for the IM 308-C/DP slave as well to a
memory card and insert the memory card in the IM 308-C/DP slave.
