Removing and installing the
panel
The panel shown needs to be removed
to perform some of the maintenance
jobs described in this chapter. Refer to
this section each time the panel needs
to be removed and installed.

To remove the panel
1. Open the seat. (See page 4-16.)
2. Remove the screws, and pull the
panel off while closing the seat
slightly as shown.

To install the panel
1. Place the panel in the original po-
sition while closing the seat slight-
ly, and then install the screws.

Checking the spark plug

The spark plug is an important engine
component, which is easy to check.
Since heat and deposits will cause any
spark plug to slowly erode, the spark

plug should be removed and checked
in accordance with the periodic main-
tenance and lubrication chart. In addi-
tion, the condition of the spark plug
can reveal the condition of the engine.
To remove the spark plug
1. Remove panel A. (See page 7-10.)
2. Remove the spark plug cap.

with a spark plug wrench available
at a Yamaha dealer.
