MANUAL RELIEF VALVE
If the power trim/tilt switch will not
tilt the outboard motor, the motor can
be manually tilted up or down by
opening the manual relief valve. To
tilt the outboard motor manually, turn
the manual relief valve under the left
stern bracket no more than 1 or 2
turns counterclockwise using a
screwdriver.
After tilting the motor, turn the
manual relief valve clockwise

Check that no person is under the
outboard motor before carrying out
this operation because if the manual
relief valve is loosened (turned
counterclockwise) when the outboard
motor is tilted up, the outboard motor
will suddenly tilt down.
The manual relief valve must be
tightened securely before operating
the motor or the motor could tilt up
when operating in reverse.
