Chapter 2 Getting Started
Software Application Installation
Software installation is required only when the MVX1000 is to be operated from a Motorola Data
Terminal (MDT) or a laptop. When using the MVX1000 LCD control head, software installation is not
required. The mDVR User Interface Application is a Windows application that allows you to manage
capture and play Digital Video. The mDVR Player lets you play recorded files that contain video, audio,
and metadata (time, date, GPS, accelerometer, etc). It can also connect to a mDVR over a TCP/IP
network and stream a live view of what is being seen by the cameras and sensors.
Installation Procedure
This mDVR User Interface Application will only run in Windows 7 or Windows 8 if installed with
IMPORTANT
administrator rights and privileges. If installed by a standard user, the application will not be
able to run without entering the administrator's password.
To install the mDVR User Interface Application:
Step 1. Turn on your computer. If your computer is already on, close any programs that are running.
Step 2. Insert the installation DVD into your computer's DVD drive or move the content of the DVD to a
USB flash drive. The installation program automatically launches and the splash screen is dis-
played.
Step 3. Select MVX1000 Player Button - the setup program begins.
If the setup program does not start automatically, browse to the installation DVD using Windows
Explorer and double-click on the MVX1000PlayerInstaller.exe file.
Step 4. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen to begin the setup process.
Step 5. Once the setup process is completed, reboot your computer.
Step 6. Set your Windows Display Properties to the Highest (32 bit) color quality.
Power On
In most configurations, the MVX1000 system starts automatically when the vehicle ignition key is in
"Acc" or "Run" position.
