Clean the Printer The first time you set up the printer, use the double-sided, adhesive-coated (sticky) cleaning card to clean the newly installed printer.

    Clean the Inside of the Printer Use the following procedure to clean the inside of the printer. Do this procedure after you have cleaned the printhead cam rollers using the sticky cleaning card. Power on the printer. Unlock the input hopper lock. Peel off the wrapper from the other side of the cleaning card.

    Install Supplies To prepare the printer to print cards, install the ink ribbon and retransfer film on the appropriate cartridges, install a cleaning sleeve into the printer, and load blank card stock into the input hopper. If your system includes an embosser, also load topping foil and indent ribbon into the embosser.

    Install the Cleaning Sleeve The cleaning sleeve helps maintain print quality by removing dust and other particles from cards before they travel into the printer. The cleaning sleeve fits on a spindle that is inserted into the printer. The printer ships with the cleaning spindle in the accessories box. Replace the cleaning sleeve each time you install a new ink ribbon, if debris appears on the printed card, or if the cleaning sleeve is no longer sticky.

  • Page 42 Route the film around the rollers on the cartridge. A diagram on the cartridge shows the correct routing pattern. Slide the empty silver take-up spool onto the cartridge until it clicks into place. Turn the take-up spool counterclockwise just enough to take up any slack in the film.     Test the IP Address Using a Local Network You can set up a local network consisting of the printer and a computer. This allows you to test whether the printer and computer can communicate using the static IP address, and to test that the printer is functioning correctly.

Color Printing The retransfer printing process uses two types of supply: a color pigment ink ribbon and a retransfer film. Monochrome Printing with Full-Color Ribbon Full-color ink ribbon includes a black panel. Text and bar codes are usually printed with the black panel. Full-color print ribbon also prints any monochrome or one-bit-per- pixel graphics using the K panel.
