Spark Arrester Removal

1. Loosen the 5 m m hex bolt, then re m ove the top cover (see page
11 ).
2. Re m ove the 3 6 m m self-tapping scre ws fro m the spark
×
arrester, and re m ove the spark arrester fro m the m uffler.

Spark Arrester Cleaning & Inspection
1. Use a brush to re m ove carbon deposits fro m the spark arrester
screen. Be careful to avoid da maging the screen.
The spark arrester m ust be free of breaks and holes. Replace the
spark arrester if it is da maged.

2. Install the spark arrester in the reverse order of disasse m bly.
3. Install the top cover, and tighten the 5 m m hex bolt securely (see
page 11 ).

Exhaust Filter Cleaning & Inspection
Pinch the exhaust filter, strike lightly with a finger, and re m ove
carbon deposits. Be careful not to strike strongly.
The exhaust filter m ust be free of breaks and holes. If it is
da maged or fouled excessively, have it serviced by your Honda
dealer.

screen. Be careful to avoid da maging the screen.
The spark arrester m ust be free of breaks and holes. Replace the
spark arrester if it is da maged.
2. Install the exhaust filter and spark arrester in the reverse order
of disasse m bly.
W hen you install the spark arrester, the spark arrester's outlet
m ust point to the side opposite the spark plug.
3. Install the top cover, and tighten the 5 m m hex bolt securely (see
page 11 ).
