This Modem Mate has been tested and found to comply with all applicable UL and FCC standards.

    43-1242.fm Page 4 Wednesday, August 18, 1999 9:16 AM INSTALLING BATTERIES Your Modem Mate requires two 9-volt batteries for pow- er. For the best performance, we recommend you use al- kaline batteries such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-553. Follow these steps to install the batteries.

Cautions: • Use only fresh 9-volt batteries. • Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (standard, alkaline, or nickel cadmium), or rechargeable batteries of different capacities.

Always remove old or weak batteries, which can leak chemicals that de- stroy electronic circuits. Keep the Modem Mate away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts.
