  • Page 3 FEATURES Your Radio Shack Chronomatic-312 AM/FM LED Alarm Clock Radio is a precision timepiece in a fun cube case. It has these features: Large Display — lets you easily read the clock display. Choice of Alarms — lets you wake to the sound of a buzzer or the radio.
  • Page 4 Battery Sentinel — lets you know when the backup battery needs to be replaced. Earphone Jack — lets you connect a monaural earphone to listen in privacy.

    PREPARATION CONNECTING POWER Plug the clock radio’s power cord into a standard AC outlet. The display flashes. Note: The power cord’s plug is polarized (one side is larger than the other). If it does not fit, turn it over. Do not force it.
  • Page 6 Notes: • To prevent unnecessary drain on the backup battery, plug in the AC power cord before you install the battery. • The clock’s display does not light while operating from battery backup power, but the clock keeps time for up to 8 hours.

  • Page 8 • Set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening. After you begin listening, adjust the volume to a comfortable level. • Do not listen at extremely high volume levels. Extended high volume listening can lead to permanent hearing loss.

    RADIO OPERATION 1. Set VOLUME to its minimum setting. 2. Set ON/OFF/AUTO/ALARM 3. Set to your desired band. AM/FM 4. Adjust VOLUME 5. Adjust TUNING Note: The radio has two antennas. The AM antenna is built-in. Rotate the radio for the best AM reception. For the best FM reception, fully extend the power cord which serves as the FM antenna.

    CLOCK OPERATION SETTING THE TIME 1. Press and hold 2. Repeatedly press (or press and hold) hour. Note: The PM indicator lights for a PM hour. 3. Repeatedly press (or press and hold) minutes. 4. Release TIME SET USING THE ALARM To use the alarm, you must first set the alarm time and then turn on the alarm.

    Notes: • The indicator on the lower left corner of the display lights when the alarm is turned on. • If you do not turn off the alarm, the buzzer or radio sounds for 1 hour, 59 minutes. • If you press ALARM SET sounds again the next day at the preset alarm time.

    Notes: • You can repeatedly press 59 minutes. After 1 hour and 59 minutes, the alarm buzzer or radio does not come on again until the next day at the preset alarm time. • If BATTERY SENTINEL lights when you press the backup battery is getting low.

    Try to eliminate the interference by: • Moving your clock radio away from the receiver • Contacting your local Radio Shack store for help If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you stop using the clock radio.

    • Use only a fresh battery of the required size and type. • Keep the clock radio dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry imme- diately. • Keep the clock radio away from dust and dirt.
  • Page 18 Modifying or tampering with the clock radio’s internal com- ponents can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty and void your FCC authorization to operate it. If your clock radio is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.
