    GENERAL SAFETY RULES Read all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term "power tool" in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

    EXTENSION CORD SELECTION If an extension cord is used, make sure the conductor size is large enough to prevent excessive voltage drop which will cause loss of power and possible motor damage. A table of recommended extension cord sizes will be found in this section.

    BLADE CLAMP FEATURES 1. Model 745 is supplied with a standard hex key blade clamp. 2. Models 746 and 747 are supplied with a keyless Quik-Change clamp. INSTALLING THE BLADE DISCONNECT TOOL FROM POWER SOURCE.

  • Page 11 1. Model 745 is supplied with a standard handle. 2. Model 746 is supplied with a soft grip handle. 3. Model 747 is supplied with a rotating handle and soft grip. HOW TO HOLD SAW MODEL 745 and 746 Hold saw as shown in Fig. 8. The gear housing, intermediate plate, blade and pivoting guide shoe may be made live if the blade cuts into live wiring within a wall.
  • Page 12 PREVENT ACCIDENTAL ELECTRICAL SHOCK THE SAW MUST BE HELD AS SHOWN IN FIG. 8A OR 8B, AND MUST HAVE THE RUBBER FRONT HOUSING COVER PROPERLY INSTALLED AND NOT DAMAGED. DO NOT USE THE TOOL UNLESS THE ROTATING HANDLE LOCKED POSITION. IF THE HANDLE WILL NOT LOCK THE TOOL MUST BE RETURNED FOR REPAIR.
  • Page 13 DUAL BLADE MOTION The Model 747 has dual blade motion: you have a choice of straight reciprocating motion, as shown in Fig. 10, or orbital motion as shown in Fig. 11. Straight reciprocating motion should be used for all metal cutting operations, and for wood cutting applications where finish is more important than speed.

    Fig. 13 SAWING METAL When cutting angle, H-beam, I-beam, channel, etc., start the cut on the surface where the greatest number of teeth will contact the work. To make a pocket cut, drill a starting hole first. To extend blade life, cutting oil can be applied to the work surface along the line of the cut.
