TROUBLESHOOTING

18.3.8 Troubleshooting related to data management, CompactFlash cards

Symptom
Cannot format the
CompactFlash card.
When the CompactFlash card
is accessed by a personal
computer, the following may
occur.
• File size displayed as 0
bytes.
• Space added to the end of
files.
• File error, file entry error, file
size error messages are
displayed, and files cannot
be opened.
When the power switches
OFF, the files on the
CompactFlash card
disappear.
Cannot recognize the
CompactFlash card.
(The CF LED does not turn
ON)
Check point
Is the CompactFlash card being accessed?
Was file access stopped before ejecting or
replacing the CompactFlash card regardless of the
power ON/OFF status?
Is there a problem with the type of CompactFlash
card?
Was the power turned OFF or control CPU reset
when writing data to the CompactFlash card?
Is the CompactFlash card inserted correctly?
Has the CompactFlash card been formatted by a
device other than the high speed data logger
module, such as a personal computer?
Was the power turned OFF or control CPU reset
when formatting the CompactFlash card?
Was the power turned OFF or control CPU reset
when writing data to the CompactFlash card?

Corrective action
• Wait until the CompactFlash card access
completes.
• Always stop file access before ejecting or
replacing the CompactFlash card regardless of
the power ON/OFF status.
 Section 16.6 (1) Stopping file access
• To repair a CompactFlash card with errors,
execute either following option.
 Reinsert the CompactFlash card with errors
in the high speed data logger module and
after stopping file access, eject the
CompactFlash card.
 Section 16.5 Operations for Ejecting
and Reinserting CompactFlash Card
 Repair the CompactFlash card with the
chkdsk command on the Microsoft
command prompt.
• Replace with one of the CompactFlash cards
shown in the following section.
 Section 2.3 (1) CompactFlash card (sold
separately, required)
• Stop file access before turning OFF the power or
reset the control CPU.

• Format the CompactFlash card again.

• Eject the CompactFlash card once and insert it
again.
