I/O NUMBER ASSIGNMENT

(2) Precautions on the number of mounted modules

The number of mounted modules must be within the range of available slots.
Even if the total number of slots on the main and extension base units is greater than
the number of available slots (for example, six 12-slot base units are used), no error
will occur as long as the modules are mounted in the allowed number of slots.
If a module is mounted in a slot that is outside the range of available slots, an
intelligent function module assignment error (error code: 2124, SP.UNIT LAY ERR.)
will occur.
