● It is possible to change OFFN within a part program. This could be used to shift the groove center line from the center
(see diagram).
● Guiding grooves:
TRACYL does not create the same groove for guiding grooves as it would be with a tool with the diameter producing the
width of the groove. It is basically not possible to create the same groove side geometry with a smaller cylindrical tool as
it is with a larger one. TRACYL minimizes the error. To avoid problems of accuracy, the tool radius should only be slightly
smaller than half the groove width.
N o te
OFFN and TRC
With TRAFO_TYPE_n = 512, the value is effective under OFFN as an allowance for TRC. With TRAFO_TYPE_n = 513, half
the groove width is programmed in OFFN. The contour is retracted with OFFN-TRC.

Coupled motion (TRAILON, TRAILOF)

Fu n ctionality
When a defined leading axis is moved, the coupled-motion axes assigned to it traverse through the distances described by
the leading axis, allowing for a coupling factor.
Together, the leading axis and all the coupled-motion axes assigned to it form a coupled axis group.
A coupled axis group can consist of any desired combinations of linear and rotary axes. A spindle, however, can form a
coupled axis group with a spindle only. A simulated axis can also be defined as a leading axis.
Ap plication examples
● Traversal of an axis by means of a simulated axis. The leading axis is a simulated axis and the coupled-motion axis a
real axis. In this way, the real axis can be traversed as a function of the coupling factor.
● Two-sided machining with a coupled axis group: leading axis Z, coupled-motion axis W.
