For connection to a PABX LINE or other Multi-Line System 1. MODEM SWITCH can be fitted to one specific line of a Commander or PABX type system. This must be done by a suitably qualified telephone technician. In this situation : The incoming telephone line, prior to the system controller should be connected to the TELEPHONE LINE IN port of MODEM SWITCH.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CALLING MODEM DEVICE(S) MODEM SWITCH distinguishes incoming Modem Calls from other incoming calls by answering all incoming calls first (answers in 2 rings), and then listening for a short period of time for the presence of a Modem Calling Tone (1300Hz CNG tone), or a specific DTMF command.

The FaxStream Duet service will allow a new additional telephone number to be allocated to the telephone line to which MODEM SWITCH is fitted, specifically for use as your MODEM NUMBER. Then whenever this new MODEM NUMBER is then called, your telephone exchange will send a different ring down your telephone line.

MODEM SWITCH in its default configuration, is programmed to NOT PASS this first full ring, as it analyses this ring as part of its MODEM detection process.
: Dip Switch 2 to the ON position. When Dip Switch 2 is set to the ON position, MODEM SWITCH will leave your Modem Device connected to your telephone line when your line is not in use and will then remove it from the telephone line whenever you pick up a telephone to make an outgoing call or whenever you receive an incoming call.

: Dip Switch 3 to the ON position. When Dip Switch 3 is set to the ON position, MODEM SWITCH will leave your Telephones connected to your telephone line when your line is not in use so that they can dial out. However by doing so, you will hear 1 full ring for all incoming calls before MODEM SWITCH will ANSWER the call and then process the call as a Voice or Modem call.
