Chapter 2 Preparations

1.6.1 Notes

Note the followings in the installation or removal of the mezzanine card.
Be careful not to make your hands touch the terminals of the mezzanine card slot directly. If you do not
keep it, the oil and/or dirt on the hands may adhere to the terminals to result in contact failure.
For the optional ROMs on the unbootable LAN device, set "Disabled" with the BIOS SETUP utility.
If a bootable mezzanine card (such as Fibre Channel controller or LAN card) is installed, check the boot
priority on the Boot menu of the BIOS SETUP utility.
The slot number for the Type 1 mezzanine card is "MEZ1", and "MEZ2" for Type 2 mezzanine card.
1000BASE Adapter (4ch) (N8403-077F) can be installed only in the Type 2 mezzanine card slot.

1.6.2 Installation

Install a mezzanine card in mezzanine card slot in the following procedure.
1. Remove the top cover and air duct according to Chapter 2 (1.3.1 Removal of top cover) and (1.3.2
Removal of air duct).
2. Confirm the position of the slot to install the mezzanine card.
Important
There are two types of mezzanine card for blade, Type 1 and Type 2.
The Type 1 mezzanine card can be installed in either of connectors Type 1 and Type
2.
The Type 2 mezzanine card can be installed in Type 2 connector only.
To install the mezzanine card, start installation from the bottom slot (for Type 1).
Before installing mezzanine card, make sure that the connection port on the card engages

with the connector on the mezzanine card slot.
