OWNER'S INFORMATION This instruction book is written for a person with some mechanical ability. Like most ser- vice books, not all the steps are described. Steps on how to loosen or tighten fasten- ers are steps anyone can follow with some mechanical ability.

INSTALL CONTROL BAR 1. Position control bar so fl attened sec- tion with hole is on opposite side of handle as up-stop bracket. 2. Insert one end of control bar into handle hole on inside of handle. Care- fully push in on opposite end of control bar and insert into hole on opposite side of handle.

The blade turns when the engine is running. • Your lawn mower is equipped with an operator pres ence control bar which requires the operator to be positioned behind the lawn mower handle to start and operate the lawn mower.
CAUTION: Alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can attract moisture which leads to separation and for ma tion of acids during storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel system of an engine while in storage. To avoid engine problems, the fuel system should be emptied before stor age of 30 days or longer.

1. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot come in contact with plug. 2. Be sure lawn mower is on level sur- face. NOTE: Oil will drain more freely when warm. Catch oil in a suitable container.
If the dis charge guard becomes dam aged, it should be replaced. Immediately prepare your lawn mower for storage at the end of the season or if the unit will not be used for 30 days or more.
IMPORTANT: Never cover mower while en gine and exhaust areas are still warm. CAUTION: Never store the lawn mower with gaso line in the tank inside a build ing where fumes may reach an open fl ame or spark.
