    GENERAL SAFETY RULES Read all instructions Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. NOTE: This vacuum is intended for commercial use. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS This Appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • Page 5 Use this appliance ONLY as described in the manual. Use only recommended attachments from Porter-Cable. Do not use this appliance with a damaged cord or plug. If the appliance is not working correctly, or if it has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped in water, return it to a service center.

    MOTOR Many Porter-Cable tools will operate on either D.C., or single phase 25 to 60 cycle A.C. current and voltage within plus or minus 5 percent of that shown on the specification plate on the tool. Several models, however, are designed for A.C.

    FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION FOREWORD Porter-Cable Model 7812/7814 Wet/Dry Vacuum delivers 99.85% filtration efficiency which is great for fine particulate pick-up, like drywall or surface dust. These units come equipped with a powerful 9 amp motor, built in outlet for use with power tools providing automatic vacuum start-up when...
  • Page 8 NOTE: Models 7812 and 7814 Vacuum Cleaners are equipped with a Static Dissipating System that can help dissipate static electrical charges (sometimes experienced when recovering very dry, powdered materials), when used with a Static Dissipating type vacuum hose.

    6 to 10 seconds after the power tool is turned “OFF”. POWER SWITCH The power switch (A) Fig. 5 on both the 7812 and 7814 models is used for the Vacuum Cleaner as a stand alone unit. When not using a power tool, depress power switch (A) Fig.

    Both models are equipped with a top filter. If vacuum efficiency is reduced (indicating a clogged filter), proceed as follows: Turn the Vacuum Cleaner “OFF.” Grasp handle (C) Fig. 6 and pull out (approximately one and one-half inches), then release. Repeat several times.

KEEP TOOL CLEAN Periodically blow out all air passages with dry compressed air. All plastic parts should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth.
