Step 3.
Reconnect all the cables disconnected previously.
After installing the PCIe riser-card assembly, complete the following steps:
1. Reinstall the top cover (see "Install the top cover" on page 131).
2. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.
3. Install the server in the rack.
4. Power on the server and any peripheral devices.

Remove an adapter

Use this procedure to remove an adapter.
Follow the following instructions accordingly to the location where the adapter has been installed.
Remove an adapter from the system board
Before removing an adapter from the system board:
1. Read the safety information and installation guidelines (see "Safety" on page iii and "Installation
Guidelines" on page 51).
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see
"Power off the server" on page 8).
3. If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top
cover, or remove the server from the rack.

5. Remove the top cover (see "Remove the top cover" on page 130).
To remove an adapter from the system board, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Disconnect any cables (including external ones) from the adapter.
Step 2.
Open the retention latch.
