3. If one or more NVMe solid-state drives are to be removed, disable them beforehand in OS. See the
labels on the drive to determine the type of the drive to remove.
To remove a 2.5-inch drive, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Gently rotate the release latch away to unlock the drive handle.

Step 2.
Grasp the handle and pull the drive out of the drive bay.
If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use
any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

Install a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive

Use this procedure to install a 2.5-inch drive.
Following are the types of drives supported by this server:
• NVMe solid-state drive
• SATA/SAS solid-state drive
• SATA/SAS hard-disk drive

Before installing a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive:
1. Read the safety information and installation guidelines (see "Safety" on page iii and "Installation
Guidelines" on page 51).
2. Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
