the Package and

Installing the Printer
Confirming the Package Contents
Before installing the printer, check that all of the following components were
included in the package. In the rare event that any components are missing or
damaged, contact the store where you purchased the printer.

Drum Cartridge
NOTE
The toner cartridges and drum cartridge that are supplied with the printer
are different from the replacement toner cartridges and drum cartridge.
Refer to Chapter 5 "Routine Maintenance" in the User's Guide when you
purchase a replacement toner cartridge or drum cartridge.
Interface cables are not supplied with this printer. Obtain a cable that
matches the computer you are using and your connection method.
Carrying the Printer to the Installation Site
and Removing the Packing Material
Once you have secured an installation site, take the printer and paper feeder
out of the package and carry them to the installation location. Cellophane tape
and packing materials are attached to the printer protect it from vibrations and
shocks during transport. Once you are at the installation site, remove this tape
and packing material.
IMPORTANT
Install the printer on a platform such as a desk that can easily support the
weight of the printer.
Do not install the paper feeders on a platform that could buckle under the
weight of the printer and optional accessories, or where the printer is liable
to sink (such as on a carpet or mat).
If you are installing the 250-sheet paper feeder at this time, install the
paper feeder before you take the printer out of the package. For
information on setting up the 250-sheet paper feeder, refer to "Installing
the 250-sheet Paper Feeder," on p. 31.

Take the printer out of the package.
IMPORTANT
Make sure that there is enough space around the area where you will
install the printer before taking it out of the package.
