1. Before compressing the file, you can display files whose names start with system.
<Sysname> dir system.*
Directory of flash:

2. Compress the file system.bin.
<Sysname> gzip system.bin
Compressing file system.bin... Done.
3. Verify the compress operation.
<Sysname> dir system.*

md5sum

Use md5sum to use the MD5 algorithm to calculate the digest of a file.

file-url: Specifies the name of a file.
Usage guidelines
The digest can be used to verify the integrity of the file. For example, you can use this command to
calculate the digest of a software image file and compare it with that provided on the HP website to
identify whether the file has been tampered with.
