Interpreting the Alert Tone Indications

The radio generates a number of audible tones to indicate operating conditions.
Alert Tone
Low Battery
Unsuccessful Power-Up
Invalid Mode
Valid [Good] Key Press
Invalid [Bad] Key Press
Emergency Alarm Entry

Description
A low-battery condition is indi-
cated by a high-pitched, cricket-
like "chirp-chirp" when the PTT
Switch is released following a
transmission.
A short, low-pitched tone when
the radio is first turned on indi-
cates that the radio has failed its
power-up self test and is not
ready for use.
A continuous, low-pitched tone is
heard when an invalid or unpro-
grammed operation is attempted
on the radio.
A short, medium-pitched tone
when a keypad key is pressed
indicates that the key press was
accepted.
A short, low-pitched tone when a
keypad key is pressed indicates
that the key press was rejected.
One beep followed by five (5)
beeps when the Emergency But-
ton is pressed indicates that the
radio has entered the emergency
mode.
