There is one important entry required in the Special Character programming and
that is the PAX software version number. One item to be aware of is the Special
Character file on this new IPL has been expanded on both the QT-6100 and QT-
6600. The QT-6100 was expanded from 120 records to 140 records and the QT-
6600 from 150 to 170. The PAX software version number is located in Record #
121 on the QT-6100 and Record # 151 on the QT-6600 and is pre-programmed
with the PAX software version of 1.12.
A potential problem that dealers may face; after loading this new IPL that has the
expanded Special Character if an existing 090 program is loaded, it will over
write the new Special Character file. When this occurs the new record size goes
back to the old record size and the PAX software version record number is lost.
Without the PAX software version the PAX terminal will not operate properly.
To prevent the above situation after loading the new IPL and before loading an
existing customer program follow the steps below::
4. Depress the Mode key and then the PGM 3 button in the Mode Menu
5. Go to Machine Features\Auto PGM Control (option# 23)
6. Highlight the 1
and then 01 followed by the YES key
7. Depress the ESC twice, then the Mode key and go to the CF Card menu
and restore the desired program (the step above blocks the original
Special Character file from being loaded in this machine so the new file is
maintained).
