Key Expansion Module Power Information
The Cisco IP Phone 8800 Key Expansion Module increases the amount of power that the phone consumes.
Although Power over Ethernet (PoE) from the switch may provide enough power to meet the needs of a phone
that has multiple key expansion modules attached, use of a power cube may be necessary. The tables that
follow help you understand whether your PoE equipment can provide the necessary power.
The Cisco IP Phone 8800 Key Expansion Module power consumption and power scheme is:

If you are charging a smartphone or a tablet, note the following:
• Side USB: Up to 500mA/2.5W charging
• Back USB: Fast charging, Supports up to 2.1A/10.5W charging
Note
When you attach more than one key expansion module to the Cisco IP Phone 8861, 8865, and 8865NR,
the fast-charge feature that uses the back USB port is not supported. In this scenario, the back port will
slow-charge the device.
