9.4 Converting the customer database when changing a system
9.4.1 Converting the customer database from HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700
to HiPath 3800
The following information refers to a CDB conversion during an upgrade, such as,

CDB HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700 V4.0 –> CDB HiPath 3800 V5.0

CDB HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700 V4.0 –> CDB HiPath 3800 V6.0
●
HiPath 3000 Manager E enables the conversion of a HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700 customer data-
base to a HiPath 3800 customer database without any data loss. A HiPath 3800-specific card
is installed during this operation for each HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700-specific card. The slots for
the individual cards are allocated according to the following criteria:
The central control switches from slot 01 (HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700, basic cabinet) to slot 6

(HiPath 3800, basic cabinet).
We endeavor to achieve identical utilization of the PCM segments.

HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700: Sixty-four time-division multiplex channels are available (see
Section 4.3.6).
HiPath 3800: One hundred and twenty-eight time-division multiplex channels are available
(see Section 4.2.5.6).
We endeavor to accommodate as many cards as possible in the HiPath 3800 basic cabi-

net.
If the cards have to be configured manually, some data may be lost. This data will have to be
entered manually after CDB conversion.
Note the following special scenarios:
SLMA (HiPath 3800) is used for SLA16N (HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700). Only 16 of the 24
●
ports on the SLMA are configured. To configure all 24 ports, the card has to be cancelled
first and then plugged in again. The irregularities in the logical port sequence resulting from
this will have to be corrected manually.
DIUN2 (HiPath 3800) is used for TMS2 (HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700). Only the first of the two

S interfaces in the DIUN2 is configured. To configure both S

Note: The B channels on the second S
In systems with more than one TMS2 card (HiPath 3750/HiPath 3700) these are replaced
