Step 2
Complete the
card that is reporting the higher-priority alarm allows traffic to revert to the active slot. Reverting frees
the standby card, which can then take over traffic from the card reporting the lower-priority alarm and
the FAILTOSW-PATH condition.

2.7.104 FAILTOSWR
The Fail to Switch to Protection Ring condition occurs when a ring switch did not complete because of
internal APS problems.
FAILTOSWR clears in any of the following situations:

On the OC-192 card, the laser is on when the card is booted and the safety key is in the on position
(labeled 1). The port does not have to be in service for the laser to be on. The laser is off when the
safety key is off (labeled 0). Statement 293

optical instruments (for example, eye loupes, magnifiers, and microscopes) within a distance of
