Voltage regulator:
• The regulator must be placed as close as possible to the battery (maximum distance 500 mm):
-
• For the heat emission, the regulator must be screwed on a plane heat-conductive body (recommended size
250x200) by using a heat-conductive paste.
• The mass connection must be set up with a ring loop under the regulator screw-joint. Do not use the cooling
plate as mass connection because there might be some transition resistance because of the heat-conductive
paste.
• The cooling plate with the regulator must be mounted isolated electrically from the unit chassis to avoid a
mass loop (mass star point)
• The maximum temperature on regulator must not exceed 80°C and therefore it is necessary to have
sufficient cooling air stream along the cooling plate and the regulator.
Generator:
If the position of the regulator close to the battery requires a lengthening of the generator lines, then
• the line cross-section must be 2,5mm² at minimum
• the line between generator and regulator must be shielded. Please take care that the shielding is placed on
mass one-sided on the stator side (engine block).
Ignition system:
Dual ignition system:
• Please take care that the check of ignition system is done in idle and that every ignition circuit is short-
circuited not more than 10 sec., because this operating state is the maximum load for the electrical
components of the ignition system.
• During operation it must be secured that the engine is always run with both ignition circuits to avoid any
unnecessary stressing of ignition components.
Ignition system of the 2- and 4-cylinder engines:
• The engine cut-off- lines must be short-circuited against engine mass. Here for you must install a separate
ground wire from the kill switches back to the engine. The additional ground wire should be parallel
installed to the ignition kill lines.
• The cut-off-lines must be laid in a distance of at least 100 mm to the other current-carrying lines,

cross-section of 4,0mm² for cable length from 250-500mm. (this specification is
referring to the connection to the +pole and to –pole of battery).
