    Connect your computer to a power outlet. The battery charging starts automatically. CAUTION Do not disconnect the AC adaptor and do not switch the wireless switch to on until the first-time operation procedure is completed. When using the computer for the first time, do not connect any peripheral device except the battery pack and AC adaptor.

In particular, if you create a user name (account name) that includes the “@” mark, a password will be requested at the log-on screen, even if no password has been set.

    Handling and Maintenance Operation Environment Place the computer on a flat stable surface. Do not place the computer upright.   • Page 20 Click on the notification area and click • When changing to [Panasonic Power management (Better Heat Dispersion)], the following settings will change. - Change to [High Speed] from [Standard] in [Fan control mode]. Rotation of the cooling fan will become faster and the computer can be cooled down. Note that the battery oper- ating time will be shorter.
  • Page 21 When Using the Computer with a Reduced Screen Resolution When setting the screen resolution to a resolution below the LCD’s resolution, the images appearing on the screen will be stretched. As a result, the characters displayed may appear blurred. This is normal, and not indicative of a malfunc- tion.
  • Page 22 Handling and Maintenance Insert the tip of a ball-point pen or other object into the emer- gency hole on the bottom of the computer, and move it in the direction of the arrow to open the disc cover. The computer should be kept level, without tilting, while the disc cover is being opened.

    At the confirmation message, select [Yes] and press Enter. The computer will restart. Press while [Panasonic] boot screen is displayed. The Setup Utility starts up. If the password is requested, enter the Supervisor Password. Set the Product Recovery DVD-ROM for Windows which you install into the CD/DVD drive.

    Reinstalling Software At the confirmation message, click [YES]. Reinstallation starts automatically. (It will take approximately 30 - 80 minutes.) Do not interrupt reinstallation, for example by turning off the computer. Otherwise reinstallation may become unavailable as Windows may not start up or the data may be corrupted. According to the instruction on the screen, switch Product Recovery DVD-ROM.

[Enter Password] does not appear when resuming from sleep / standby hibernation. When logging on (e.g., resuming the computer), audio is distorted. Cannot resume.
